The Erawan Museum is constructed as a 250 tons gigantic three-headed elephant, Airavata. This great idea was inspired by Khun Lek Viriyapant's wish want to preserve his priceless art and sacred objects in ancient cultures. The Erawan Museum is divided into 2 main parts; The upper part which is the elephant. the belly of the elephant or call "Heaven" is a serve as a museum exhibiting the precious objects. Lower Part of the elephant base, inside the building or call "Earth" displays antiques comprising a pavilion of Phra ket - Protective God of the Earth and Ocean. The interior decoration had combine both eastern and western of art in various styles. The Museum is also surrounded by a garden of rare species of plants and sculptures of the characters from the Ramakian story.
Although is not a temple, but houses Buddha's relics and Buddha images from different periods inside the elephant's belly, many visitors who come to worship.
